Mantra's Monumental Mural: A Butterfly Haven in the Miami Skyline

The Epic Creation

Renowned French artist Mantra, the maestro behind the rooftop canvas, has unveiled a colossal mural spanning 35,000 square feet – Miami's largest to date. This hyper-realistic masterpiece adorns the Southeast Financial Center, transforming its rooftop into a towering butterfly sanctuary.

"Butterflies are symbolic of metamorphosis and represent all living things," says Mantra. "My art aims to reconnect us with nature and inspire a dialogue about our place in the interconnected world."

Trompe l'Oeil Masterpiece

Mantra's mural is an astonishing trompe l'oeil illusion, presenting a specimen case filled with over a dozen vibrant butterflies. Meticulously crafted with rollers, the artwork captures the intricate details of each species, including Miami's endangered Blue.

Despite the arduous process and battling elements like strong winds and coastal humidity, Mantra spent 400 hours and 200 gallons of paint to perfect his creation.

Personal and Reflective Exploration

"My work is driven by curiosity about nature," Mantra explains. "It's a personal reflection on the fleeting moments of life and our relationship with the living world." He emphasizes that he prefers to leave the interpretation open-ended, inviting viewers to experience his art subjectively.

Artistic Challenges and Community Impact

"Creating monumental works tests my limits," says Mantra. He relishes the challenges these projects pose, from managing the unpredictable weather to the physical demands and extended timelines. However, it's through these murals that he finds opportunities to express himself, connect with the public, and contribute meaningfully to the community.
